Hi, I’m Samantha!
I am, first, a child of God. I want to use the gifts He has blessed me with to bless others. I have loved photography since I was 12 years old and over the years I have grown and educated myself in photography, as well as all things birth.
After my own birth in 2014 I realized how desparately I could have used a doula, and how birth photography can be so incredible to help remember your birth story, no matter the circumstances surrounding it.
After pursuing birth photography for 2.5 years I realized that I naturally stepped in to the role of a doula, and I wanted to continue my education to include it in my services to families. I am a natural nurturer and after working in the birth setting for 4 years now, I can't imagine being anywhere else.
I took a holistic doula course in 2023 and am constantly furthering my education. I am passionate about caring for mothers and holding them up during pregnancy, labour and delivery, and postpartum. I believe that all births are beautiful and deserve to be documented, and all mothers deserve to be supported in the birth they dream of, no matter how they envision it.
So, why “Annah Rae”?
There aren’t many people I look up to in my life more than my mom and my grandma. There’s no one else in my life that has shown me the strength that the two of them have. When I think of a Proverbs 31 woman, I think of them. They are the most incredible examples of what it means to be a Godly woman, and I can only pray one day I am half as incredible as the two of them are.
They are my inspiration and all I hope to be. I hope to pass on their wisdom to my own daughters, one day; I figured what better way than to honour them by naming my business after them.
ann.ah- Anne, after my mom, and Sarah, after my grandma. Rae represents me. It is a nickname given to me by many that I know and love.
